研究概要

本研究では、これまでに開発してきた蒸気、温度、機械的刺激などの低刺激に応答する発光性クロミック金属錯体(図1)、π電子系有機結晶、発光性超分子等を基盤に、さらなる鋭敏性や高選択性を有する発光性ソフトクリスタルの構築と物性解明を行い、現象の原理を探求する。また、応答性を制御することにより新機能性素材の開発も目指す。ソフトクリスタルに集約される動的な構造秩序体は多様であり、本研究課題のもと分野の異なる研究者がチームを組むことで、金属錯体、有機化合物、超分子錯体のそれぞれの特性を生かした新規系が得られるだけではなく、協奏的な効果も期待でき、新しい物質系開拓への道を切り開くことができると考える(図2)。さらに、外部刺激応答による構造変換の時間・空間制御は、デバイス化への新しい手法となりうる。このような観点から、現象論にとどまっていたソフトクリスタル研究を新学術領域として高めていく中心的役割を果たすべく研究を推進する。
